Michael Lanning is a Colorado Springs native and has been practicing yoga for over 12 years. Although a spiritual seeker from a very young age, it wasn’t until 2006 that he discovered the language of yoga and started on the path. Quickly accumulating a large library of books and devouring them one after another, he found himself in constant search of more knowledge.
This quest led him to a 200-hour teacher training in 2007, a year-long course in Sanskrit and Vedic studies in 2008, and finally finding his lineage in 2010 when he traveled to the Sivananda Kutir Ashram in Uttarkashi, India. There he completed the 200-hour Sivananda Teacher Training Course where he was initiated into the name “Śāntanu”. He continued his education in June of 2015 with the 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training Course at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California.
While serving as staff in Sivananda ashrams around the world, Michael has taught courses and classes on asana, pranayama, and yoga philosophy; guiding students to find that inner peace that is our true nature. He now brings the teachings of Swami Sivananda, as taught by Swami Vishnudevanada, to the Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs areas. His humble approach to teaching allows the knowledge of a rich, traditional, and ancient lineage to shine through.
