SAUNAS IN COLORADO

at SUNWATER SPA

Enjoy one of the most relaxing ways to detox. We have two saunas on-site for reservation only. If you’re not sure how a sauna session can help you improve your health, there are plenty of studies indicating the benefits, here are just a few examples.

Traditional saunas are said to improve circulation, improve skin, open sinuses, reduces stress, and improves mobility by loosening joints. Chromotherapy saunas provide relaxation while also stimulating immunity, promoting weight loss and muscle recovery.

A 2012 study found that moist heat, such as that provided by a traditional sauna room, can improve circulation by dilating the small blood vessels or capillaries. Blood can then flow more easily and transport oxygen around the body.

Furthermore, there is considerable evidence to suggest that sauna bathing can induce profound physiological effects. Intense short-term heat exposure elevates skin temperature and core body temperature and activates thermoregulatory pathways via the hypothalamus and CNS (central nervous system) leading to activation of the autonomic nervous system. The activation of the sympathetic nervous system, hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal hormonal axis, and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system leads to well-documented cardiovascular effects with increased heart rate, skin blood flow, cardiac output, and sweating. The resultant sweat evaporates from the skin surface and produces cooling that facilitates temperature homeostasis. In essence, sauna therapy capitalizes on the thermoregulatory trait of homeothermy, the physiological capability of mammals and birds to maintain a relatively constant core body temperature with minimal deviation from a set point. It is currently unclear whether steam saunas invoke the same degree of physiological responses as dry saunas, as the higher humidity results in water condensation on the skin and reduced evaporation of sweat.

Chromotherapy is the science of using colors to adjust body vibrations to frequencies that result in health and harmony. Each color possesses frequencies of a specific vibration, and each vibration is related to different physical symptoms. Chromotherapy works on various energy points to help balance your body via the full spectrum of visible light, each color of which addresses a distinct need.
