Job Summary:
When scheduled in housekeeping: Sunkeepers are responsible for ensuring all areas inside the homes and on the patios are clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy. While in housekeeping Sunkeepers report directly to Housekeeping Lead.

When scheduled in the kitchen: Sunkeepers are primarily responsible for assisting in preparing meals for retreats. The Sunkeeper also washes dishes and cleans the kitchen. They may occasionally serve meals as directed by the Kitchen Manager. This position reports to the Kitchen Manager and cook.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepping before and cleaning after meals
  • Set up dining area for meals and clean kitchen/dishes after service
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organic, vegetarian, and gluten-free kitchen
  • Assist in creating grocery lists
  • Assist in inventory audits
  • Assist in cataloguing recipes  
  • Serve meals as directed for guests (10-50 people)
  • Interact with guests once they are served
  • Preparation for events, ensuring necessary food service requirements are ready
  • Foster a welcoming & safe experience for guests and staff
  • Encourage open and professional dialog with staff
  • Ensure all floors are clean (hardwood, rugs, and carpet,) including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, shampooing, and polishing floors
  • Vacuum draperies when necessary to ensure cleanliness
  • Dust, clean, and polish furniture, fittings, metal fixtures
  • Empty and clean trash containers and dispose of trash in a sanitary manner
  • Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers, wipe down all glass surfaces
  • Ensure rooms are tidy and make/change linens as required
  • Wash windows per the schedule
  • Wash/sort all laundry, make sure to fold and put away clean laundry in appropriate areas
  • Operate mechanized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition
  • Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements
  • Explore any organic cleaning solutions, and offer suggestions
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials
  • Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment
  • Customer service experience

 

Physical Requirements:
Lifting 50 lbs (when necessary)
Physical stamina and mobility, including ability to reach, kneel, and bend
Walking up and down stairs multiple times per day
Ability to lift, push and pull (usually about 30 pounds)
Ability to prep, serve and clean for three meals a day, for the duration of retreats

 

Compensation:
$11.10/hour
